How to Submit a Book Review in 3 Easy Steps

Updated: Feb 10

Did you know that 50 is the magic number of book reviews for Amazon to begin promoting a book?

That is when the mysterious algorithms kick in, boosting its ranking in search results.  When it hits 75 reviews, Amazon is triggered to reach customers who've bought similar books.  Each review updates the algorithms and boosts the book's ranking.

Though there are numerous platforms on which to write and submit reviews, Amazon reviews are critical because it is where most customers shop for books. Goodreads is another site where readers go for honest and meaningful reviews.

The best way to thank an author for writing a book you enjoyed is to leave an honest review!

For those of you who may be new to writing reviews, I've put together instructions for submitting one in just three simple steps.

1) Find the book on Amazon.com

2) Scroll down to Customer Reviews and Click on Write a Customer Review

3) Create Review by selecting what you would like to include:

  • Stars – click on the number of stars from 1 – 5; 5 is the best rank

  • Add a brief headline – what’s important to know

  • Add a photo or image – shoppers find images and video more helpful and text alone.

  • Add a written review – what did you like or dislike?

  • Click Submit and you’re done! Amazon will approve and post at their convenience.
